Community Recycles Childrens Bikes |
East Dunbartonshire residents looking for a bargain on a child's bike should head to Kilsyth Road WorkSpaces on Monday, July 26 from 10am to 4pm.
Staff at the Cycle Recycle Project are selling top-class re-conditioned bikes from as little as £10.
"The bikes are second-hand but all parts have been replaced and the completed cycles look good as new," said Development and Infrastructure Convener Billy Hendry. “This is a great way to get a hold of a good bike at little cost and a blessing for families who’s income means they couldn’t afford to buy new.”
Since its inception the project has amassed more than 100 bikes and sold 40. A crew of six cycle mechanics are given employment thanks to the government’s Future Jobs Fund. They’re supervised by East Dunbartonshire Transport Management Organisation (TMO) and part-sponsored by Healthy Habits.
