SCOTS NEED TRANSPARENCY ON CUTS
Strathkelvin & Bearsden MSP, David Whitton said that today’s revised forecasts from the Scottish Government on the impact of the Con-Dem budget reveals that the SNP can come forward with their departmental budget estimates in September.
He repeated calls for the SNP Government to publish their budget plans in September.
He also criticised the SNP and Tories for joining forces to deny discussion on the public finances on a vote in Holyrood in June.
Shadow Finance spokesman, David Whitton MSP, said:
“If the SNP Government can forecast the impact of the Con-Dem budget on Scottish funding then surely they can come forward with departmental budget estimates this September.
“It is vital that the SNP now tells Scotland what the best and worse case scenarios are in September.
“We know the Tories joined with the SNP to vote against the publication of these estimates but with the scale of the cuts being planned the case for publication is now unanswerable.
“It’s time for clarity on these cuts and John Swinney needs to tell us both what his best case and worst case might be."
